FERTILITY

If you’re having trouble conceiving you’re not alone. Around 1 in 6 couples have trouble getting pregnant, that’s 3.5 million people in the UK.

It’s often assumed that women are the cause of fertility issues but male fertility is just as likely to be the reason. We have a wealth of experience and success in improving our patient’s fertility, both male and female.

We treat women and men at any stage in their fertility planning. This can be from the start when it’s just in the planning phase to enhance general health before trying for a baby. Or it can be for couples who are experiencing problems with conception and are now having fertility treatment such as IVF or ICSI.

We use safe, effective natural treatments, to help create the optimum environment for conception. If you are undergoing assisted conception we are understand the drug regime that you are under and work with what your body is dealing with as well as aiding with the side effects.

We can help with a wide range of health issues which could be affecting your ability to conceive, including;

Acupuncture and Fertility

Acupuncture is a popular treatment choice for infertility. It can be used to assist natural conception and assisted reproductive methods such as IVF. Jo has a wealth of experience supporting patients to conceive. She works with both women and men to help them take charge of their fertility.

How Acupuncture can help

Trials in China have demonstrated significantly better pregnancy rates for acupuncture than medication (Yang 2005, Chen 2007, Song 2008). Research has established plausible mechanisms to explain how acupuncture may benefit fertility:

· Regulating fertility hormones that can negatively impact fertility.
· Increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs
· Help to improve blood flow to the ovaries and improve the environment in which follicles develop.
· It can also increase blood flow to the uterus, improving the thickness of the endometrial lining and increasing the chances of embryo implantation.
· Reducing the effects of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), one of the most common causes of female infertility. By reducing sympathetic nerve activity and balancing hormone levels, acupuncture has been shown to reduce the number of ovarian cysts, stimulate ovulation, enhance blastocyst implantation, and regulate the menstrual cycle in women with PCOS. It may also help to control secondary effects such as obesity and anorexia.

Reflexology for conception

Reflexology works with your body to restore balance and can help to create the right environment for conception. It can work well with assisted conception including IVF. The balancing, calming effects complement medical procedures well. According to Infertility Network UK (www.infertilitynetworkuk.com, 2008)

“Reflexology has a strong affinity with the hormonal system and can help to balance hormone production prior to your cycle. It is also deeply relaxing and can be used prior to embryo transfer to maximise nerve and blood supply via the uterine reflex.”

Both Jo and Vic are experienced Reflexology fertility practitioners and have completed specialist postgraduate training.

How can Reflexology help?

Reflexology is deeply relaxing. It can help the body and mind to reach a rebalance, which is thought to affect the balancing of the endocrine system (hormones). Fertility Reflexology is suitable for both natural and assisted conception and is safe at any time of your cycle or throughout IVF, IUI etc.

Many couples have found it very helpful to receive Reflexology treatments when dealing the stress and emotional upheavals linked with assisted conception methods, after miscarriages or just due to the disappointments from not getting pregnant.

Fertility reflexology can help with

*Relaxation *Reduce stress *Promote a regular cycle *Balance hormones *Decrease cramps *Increase cervical mucous

Recommended treatment plan

Jo and Victoria are both experienced practitioners. Jo can combine Acupuncture with Reflexology and Victoria can add Hypnotherapy, Massage, or Reiki.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy deals with whole body health, it supports your body’s natural ability to maintain itself. Treatment will help your body be in the best condition to support a successful pregnancy.

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual relies on the way that bones, muscles, ligaments, connective tissue, and internal structures work with each other. By improving your structural balance, it can help you function at your best.

Cranial Osteopathy can be used to locate areas of congestions and through specific hand movements, remove the stress of those organs and improve functioning.

Our Osteopath Frithe (Master Osteopath M. Ost) will take the time to understand you, and your unique combination of symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle. From that she will formulate a treatment plan that will achieve the best outcome.

Recommended treatment plan

All treatment plans are tailored to your individual needs. Your plan will depend on what you need help with but most likely you will need a series of weekly or fortnightly treatments if you have a specific problem that needs support.

“There is a strong body of evidence to show that homeopathy aids fertility. A German clinical trial… showed more than half of women with fertility problems experienced improved ovulation or pregnancy after taking a homeopathic remedy.” Daily Mail 19-06-03
