She uses a functional medicine approach which means that, if helpful, she uses tests, to get to the root cause of your problem and to help resolve your health issue faster.
What is Functional Testing?
Sandra says ‘Often when someone is feeling unwell they will have GP blood tests and are told that everything is ‘normal’. Normal reference ranges have more to do with statistics than health so we often need to dig a bit deeper.’
Common tests that are used in clinic include;
Adrenal Stress Profile – detects stress hormone imbalances which may affect energy levels and mood as well as contribute to anxiety, inflammation, menstrual problems, infertility, and recurrent infections.
Stool analysis – a useful test to evaluate your digestive function, when compromised this may result in bloating and gas, indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain. Research also suggests a poor function may result in arthritis and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Female Hormone profile – imbalances may result in infertility, premenstrual tension, fluid retention, fibroids, painful and heavy periods, endometriosis, and migraine headaches.
